Ridin' in Style

Just wanted to let everyone know that my new wheels are wonderful!!! It is a beautiful car and just my size. However, I hope it improves on the gas mileage as it only got 25 mpg out of the first tank full. Maybe after it is broken in, it will do better. However, I do so much stopping and starting when I get into Tallahassee that I'm sure that accounts for less mileage per gallon. As long as it doesn't get less, I'll be happy. If I can ever learn how to add pictures to these blogs, I'll do so but it just doesn't seem to be working for me tonight.

I just got off the phone with my niece in Mississippi - Lora Stallings. She is so sweet to call me occasionally and keep me posted on the happenings with her and Scott. She told me the two of them are going with their church group in October to Thailand on a mission trip and sounded really excited. That's the month of their 1st anniversary, so what a way to celebrate!

I'm feeling a need to see all of my grandchildren, but especially the three older ones. I was with the two younger ones a couple of weeks ago, but it's been over a month since seeing the others. Guess that would be a good excuse to head to Florida for a visit and show off my car. ha. I'll give that some thought. Seeing the pictures of the two younger ones on their mom's blog makes me want to get hold of them too, so maybe I'll just TRAVEL!

Until that happens, and until next time for blogging, I love you Steve, Angela, Meredith, Ethan, Emily, Mitch, Jawan, Andrew, Luke and Stuart. You are all precious to my heart. Mom.

I DID IT!!

Yep, after driving the same car for eight years that was beginning to need some repairs and was run into last week by another driver, I took that to mean that it was time to get a new car. So, as of today, I am the proud, scared (payments!!) owner of a 2007 Toyota Camry. Wow, it drives and rides like a dream! Gold color, so it's really sharp looking. It is supposed to get 34 mpg, which will be an improvement over what I'm used to. I'm so thankful to be able to get it and I know God will provide so that I can afford it. It's kinda sad to see my Thunderbird sitting on the side of the drive with the new one under the carport. ha. It has served me well and I've grown attached to it in some respects. BUT, give me a week and I'll be over it. Ok, just wanted you to share my joy (you can share my payments too if you wish!). ha. Until next time, I love you Steve, Angela, Meredith, Ethan, Emily, Mitch, Jawan, Andrew, Luke and Stuart. Mom.

Crash!

"All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and called according to His purpose." I've repeated that verse to myself several times this morning. Why? Because on my way to work, I was hit by another vehicle. No, I'm not hurt, and I thank God for his protection. My car has a hicky on the right passenger side - knocked off my mirror and dented and scraped that area. The other driver was totally at fault and was cited for improper lane change (he was turning right onto street I was on and ran into me). Also, he didn't have his insurance information with him, so I'm praying that is not going to be a problem. I've reported it to my insurance company and have left it in their hands. There were three passengers in his vehicle, and they were all really nice guys and very apologetic. So, I pray that this will work for my good in whatever way the Lord has in mind. I'm certainly not worried about it - just thankful no one was hurt. On another note, I am THRILLED with the news that grandchild number 6 is going to be a girl! See how blessed we are????!!!!!!! Until next time, I love you Steve, Angela, Meredith, Ethan, Emily, Mitch, Jawan, Andrew, Luke and Stuart. Mom.

Another Change

I decided my blog page looked like a Texaco advertisement with the star, so I've changed it. I was tired of it anyway and needed a new "look." Maybe it will inspire me to blog more often. Can you believe two in one day!?! Later.

Changes!

Life consists of changes, most of which I like. This past weekend, I traveled to Columbus to help Jawan and family move to a new house. I love the house and hope it won't take them long to adjust and make it feel like "home." When I returned home, my boss called me (can you believe that!?!) to tell me of a major change at the office. Since I had been off on Friday, he didn't want me coming in on Monday and be shocked when I learned the news. Four of our attorneys are pulling out and forming their own firm, which will leave only five to carry on as usual. He assured me that the change would not affect me in any way. This is the way he put it: "The good news is that all of your attorneys will be there on Monday; the bad news is that all of your attorneys will be there on Monday." Ha, ha, I love his sense of humor. I told him I believed the good outweighed the bad. We've just gone through a major change in the office anyway and now this - oh well, guess that's what's called progress. When I started to work here 16 years ago, we had 18 attorneys in this office and a branch office in Pensacola with 5 attorneys for a total of 23. About six years ago, four attorneys pulled out and formed their own firm leaving 19 in our firm. Now, the Pensacola office has now broken away from us to become their own entity, which left 14 in our firm. In the interim, for whatever reason five others have moved on to other firms, which left 9. With the departure of the four this week, we are left with 5. Gee, that's kinda sad to see us dwindling down but, who knows, we may hire additional attorneys to take up the slack. I love my job, my boss, the benefits and the working conditions so I plan to be here until they kick me out, I get too old to work, or the Lord takes me home, whichever occurs first. ha. Ok, I know you were just dying to know all of this but I'll not bore you further. I will close by wishing a Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, especially my children (Angela, Jawan and Stuart) and grandchildren (Meredith, Ethan, Emily, Andrew and Luke). I love all of you with all my heart! Mom.

Just Chillin'

B-r-r-r-r- it's cold in south Georgia! I'm not complaining, however. The sun is out, I've been to church this morning, and out to lunch with friends. So, there's nothing to complain about. In addition, I had quite an unexpected surprise yesterday. Stuart and two of his friends dropped in (from Atlanta) and stayed about 15 to 20 minutes with me. They had been to a truck/car show close by and he knew he better not get that close without coming on to my house. Nothing worth writing about has happened in my life since my last blog, but I didn't want my child (No. 2) to have to remind me. ha. I am planning to go to her house this coming Friday to help with their move and yard sale. Then I'll try to get back in time for our church Valentine banquet on Saturday night. It will be a busy weekend, but I'm looking forward to it. Gee, my oldest grandchild, Meredith, has a birthday tomorrow - NO. 16/! Where have the years gone???? She is so sweet, so beautiful, and so talented. But, oh, how I worry about all the things she and Ethan (and all teenagers for that matter) are faced with on a day-t0-day basis. However, I pray for my children and grandchildren by name every morning, so I know God will take care of them for me. I love you so much, Meredith, and want you to have a beautiful, full and happy life and one that honors God. Ok, now that I'm on the verge of getting mushy and teary, I'll stop. Guess I'll go snooze in my recliner for an hour or two before going back to church tonight. Until next time, I love you Steve, Angela, Meredith, Ethan, Emily, Mitch, Jawan, Andrew, Luke and Stuart. Mom.
